Medieval dress circa 14th century.
Completed: November 2007
Worn at: various Medieval festivals

Why I chose this costume: This was really my first try at medieval clothing. Although I did some research, it wasn't
all that extensive. This is by no means a historically accurate garment, except perhaps visually.

The costume is comprised of a red crushed velvet surcote (overgown) with "hells gates" (open sides), braided trim
detail and long leather belt, worn over a cotton cotehardie which laces up the back. The cotehardie also has lace up
cuffs. Worn with a taffeta-covered hat with barbette and veil.
